Hotdogs For Hero’s is a Texas Non- profit that was formed by Vern and Juanette Wallace after many years of being in the concession business.
They started in the concession business in 2005 selling one item, Pork Skins.
That evolved into adding more items at each event until they finally had a full menu of items that spanned from their Pork Skins to Funnel Cakes, Italian Ice, Fresh Squeezed Lemonade and more.
They first sold their concessions at smaller events that had an attendance of 100 people or less.
As they grew their business, they expanded and evidentially were doing events such as the Waller County Fair and Tomball German Festival that had Tens of Thousands of attendees.
The operation kept morphing and growing until they had to have a full staff to help with operating the booths. In doing these events, both large and small, they always made sure that the EMS crews, Police Officers and Support Staff had what they needed and a lot of what they didn’t, in the form of sweets and treats.
They were always willing to pay, but we never accepted their money, as it was our small way of giving back to the community.
Then in October 2021 they did a large multi-weekend event at Blessington Farms a place where families go to enjoy nature, a pumpkin patch and wildflower farm where they could pick their own flowers.
The Farm was packed every weekend with families having fun. Of course, with that many people there is always some type of issue from being overheated, bee stings and more.
There were many First Responders, Support Staff and just plain individuals that were there in case they were needed. It was hot and many were volunteers, old and young.
We had originally set up to give them a discount, but after we thought about it, they were there for the safety and to further the enjoyment of the families in attendance.
So…. We decided to serve them their food and drinks for free.
Many were surprised and many were apprehensive as they stated, “we were a small business and needed to make money as well”.
We took a stand and said NO, it's on us, and Thank You for what you do.
At the end of that event, we talked about what we could do to further this idea and…. Hotdogs For Hero’s was formed. We became a Texas Non-Profit to help further the endeavor, and here we are now.
We are now set up to serve those who serve us and do it with Fun, Food and Fellowship.
We are currently waiting on our approval for our 501(c)3
